We have been on furlough during the past eight weeks, visiting many of our supporting churches in Ohio, Iowa, and Indiana. We have been in a few new churches. It has been good to visit our faithful supporters and new churches as well, but now we are eager to get back home to Germany. We are sitting in the Newark airport awaiting our flight to Berlin.

Paul and Doris Brock have been filling-in at the Wittenberg church in our absence. Words cannot express the blessing it is to have them fill-in. Having an experienced missionaries filling in is one of the greatest needs in European Missions today. Missionaries like Paul and Doris are an irreplaceably necessary for continuity during furloughs. The lack of continuity is a major deterrent to church growth in Europe. Imagine a stateside church’s pastor on leave for an extended period of time without providing a fill-in. How long could that group of believers hold it together? Lay leadership is great, but even in the best of situations, a church needs a pastor’s leadership to maintain growth. Please pray for the Brocks and consider teaming up with them as they minister in Germany.

Right before our furlough began, we celebrated Skyler becoming a man. Our society has been failing to produce real men of character that sacrificially give of themselves, so with a ceremony we challenged Skyler to be a man of integrity, producing life, protecting life, pursuing knowledge and wisdom, living exemplarily and leading others to God. We then dubbed him to this cause with a sword engraved with “God has the last Word” and the Bible references we used in the ceremony. (see our website for pics and all the details)

Upon returning to Wittenberg, Germany, we have a goal of joining and then later starting an archery club. Thanks to the gifts and help of several wonderful people who have caught a vision of the possibility of reaching men through this kind of activity, we have begun putting together a good set of equipment. The generosity of these individuals has been a tremendous financial blessing.

Our baseball and archery outreaches are still in need of churches and individuals who are interested in partnering with us and helping us to reach young men with the hope of the Gospel. We would like to encourage anyone who is interested in filling in the gap to contact us for further information.

We do have some special needs. We left our German car with the mechanic while we were stateside in order to have several needed repairs attended to. The resulting repair costs total $973,72.

Thank you so much for your support of our ministry!
